In his role as Canada Research Chair in Dendrochronology, Dr. Tardif's three primary objectives are:
- to develop a better understanding of the ecology of tree species reaching their distribution limit;
- to obtain a better understanding of the linkage between forest disturbances and climate variability; and,
- to get more insight into the past and present climate of Central Canada using climate reconstruction derived from tree-rings
