Managing Project Timelines - March 1-15, 2017 (Estimated Completion Time: 1-1.5 hours)

Reach project deadlines with less stress. Gain techniques and tools to help you create realistic project timelines and manage your time and energy. Using a customized project planning tool, you’ll be reaching your project deadlines with energy and time to spare. At the end of the session, you will:

  • Understand how to define tasks, task duration, milestones, and deadlines
  • Know how to use planning techniques to implement  and adapt project timelines
  • Learn processes and techniques to communicate your project status to your research team

Writing Strategic Business Reports - March 2 - 16, 2017 (Estimated Completion Time: 2-3 hours)

Learn how to write clear and strategic business reports that achieve their intended purpose. You will learn how to:

  • Tailor a report for its intended function and audience
  • Make a positive impression with the readers

Time Management - March 2-30, 2017 (Estimated Completion Time: 5-6 hours)

If you find yourself frequently running out of time on a project or impending deadlines are making you anxious, this workshop is for you. You’ll learn how to make the most of every minute, avoid procrastination and other “time thieves,” and create achievable plans and schedules, based on project management best practices. You will learn to:

  • Accurately organize & estimate your workload
  • Boost performance and productivity
  • Drive the results that matter to you
  • Take effective action to help follow-through

Cost: All Mitacs Step workshops, is free for both graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. However, the preauthorization of a valid credit card is required as part of the registration process. A $50 penalty will be applied to all late cancellations (cancellations that are not made 5 days or more before the workshop date), no shows, or incomplete attendance. These penalties are only charged after the completion of a workshop and no charges are ever made to students who participate in full.
