English Major Kakeka Thundersky Nominated for National Award

A first year English major, Kakeka Thundersky, has been nominated for the prestigious 2016 Everyday Political Citizen award from Samara Canada. Kakeka was nominated by her sister and then selected by Rick Mercer to be one of 20 finalists. She is the only Winnipeg candidate. Kakeka volunteers at numerous Winnipeg agencies and is active in the Indigenous community. She is is currently studying to become a teacher and hopes to teach in an Ojibway-immersion program in the future.
