Suspicious, Worrisome or Criminal Behaviour

The University of Winnipeg expects and encourages students, faculty, and staff to demonstrate a reasonable concern for their own welfare. Students, faculty, or staff may observe an individual or group that has or may be displaying behaviour that is suspicious, worrisome, or criminal in nature. This observation must immediately be brought to the attention of the University Security Services by calling 205.786.6666.

If you are the victim of, or a witness to, criminal behaviour take the following action:

  • From a safe location, call the Winnipeg Police Service at 911 or Security Services at 204.786.6666. (Ensure to advise Security Services if you contact the Winnipeg Police Service.)
  • If you are unable to contact Security Services or the Winnipeg Police Service, advise a faculty or staff member and request that they contact Security Services or the Winnipeg Police Service.
  • If possible and safe to do so, wait for the arrival of Security Services or the Winnipeg Police Service.
  • Assist and cooperate with Security Services or the Winnipeg Police Service.
  • If safe to do so, assist the victim.

If you are the victim of, or a witness to, suspicious or worrisome behaviour, take the following action:

  • Proceed to a safe area where there is a large group of people.
  • Contact Security Services at 204.786.6666 or advise a faculty or staff member.
  • If safe to do so, wait for the arrival of Security Services.
  • Assist and cooperate with Security Services.
