Important Dates and Deadlines
Awards and Financial Aid
February 1 2016 - Deadline to submit the 2016-17 Entrance Scholarship application.
March 1 2016 – Date by which high school students should apply for admissions to be considered for a Special Entrance Scholarship.
June 3 2016 - Deadline to submit the President's Scholarship for World Leaders application.
June 1 2016 – Application for Manitoba Student Aid will open for the Fall term (Sept.-Dec.) and Fall/Winter academic session (Sept.-Apr.). Those registered full-time (at least 9 credit hours per term) should apply online. Part-time students must obtain a paper copy (available online, from the Manitoba Student Aid office, or from our office). For out-of-province students, please refer to your Provincial government student aid branch for application information.
- July 15 - Date to file paper Government Student Aid applications to avoid late payment fees.
- August 1 - Date to file on-line Government Student Aid applications to avoid late payment fees.
August 15 2016 - Deadline to apply for the Sir William Stephenson Scholarship and Dr. and Mrs. Roderick Hunter Scholarship Application and the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University Scholarships.
August 26 2016 - Deadline to submit a Work-Study position request (for UW Staff).
September 1 2016 - Date when the Awards & Financial Aid Office will begin signing Confirmation of Enrollment Forms (Schedule 2s) for previous government student loan recipients who are attending the UW, but will not be receiving Government Student Aid in the 2016-17 academic year. The forms are available online and/or from our office.September 19 2016 - In-Course Awards & Bursaries and Opportunity Fund Fast Tack Bursary application deadlines.
October 7 2016 - In-Course Scholarships application deadline.
November 30 - Students seeking government student aid funding for the Winter term only should apply before this date to avoid late fees.
December 5 2016 - Deadline to apply for a Work-Study position (for students).
Mid-December 2016 - Approximate time in which refund cheques will be mailed to registered students with credits on their account as a result of government student aid overpayment and/or award(s).
Before December end - students who applied for Government Student Aid must submit outstanding documents before the end of the first term to avoid delays on second term disbursements.
December 23 to January 2 - University is closed for the Christmas break.
January 3 2017 - University re-opens. Date when the Awards & Financial Aid Office will begin signing Confirmation of Enrollment forms (Schedule 2s) for previous government student loan recipients who are attending the UW for the 2017 Winter term, but will not be receiving Government Student Aid.
January 31 2017 - General Bursary application deadline for the Winter term.
March 3 2017 - Deadline to apply for Manitoba Student Aid for the 2016-17 Fall/Winter or 2017 Winter session.
Early March - Application for government student aid opens. Apply early to avoid funding delays.
April 1 - If relying on Government Student Aid to pay tuition, you should apply before this date to avoid late fees.
May 1 - Spring/Summer session begin. Also the final date to pay tuition fees.
NOTE: All government student aid recipients relying on their government funding to pay their tuition fees should read the Tuition Fee Deferral section of our Government Student Aid Information webpage.
May 31 - General Bursary application deadline.
June 1 - Tuition fee payment deadline for Government Student Aid recipients on the Tuition Fee Deferral list.
Early July - Approximate time in which General Bursary applicants will be notified of the selection results (by webmail).
Late August - Approximate time in which refund cheques will be mailed to registered students with credits on their account as a result of government student aid overpayment and/or award(s).
