The University of Winnipeg has one department to serve international students and a new separate department to serve immigrant and refugee students.  See details below.

International Student Services

International Student Services (ISS) is here to welcome you to Winnipeg and to provide support for you during your studies at The University of Winnipeg.

ISS provides a wide range of services:

  • Airport reception (must be arranged at least 2 weeks prior to arrival)
  • Academic advising - book an appointment with an advisor at ISS appointment booking page
  • Information on Visa and Study Permits
  • Health insurance
  • Student Mentor Program
  • Social and cultural events, electronic newsletter
  • International Tutor Program

Immigrant & Refugee Student Services

The new Immigrant and Refugee Student Services department provides a wide variety of services for prospective and current students who have immigrant or refugee status:

  • Personalized counselling on admission requirements, the application process, regulations and policies, and selecting a program of interest
  • Assistance with course selection, registration and explanation of degree requirements
  • Transition support, including academic advising, study skills workshops, and free tutoring
  • Connection to supports such as career services, counselling, housing, and financial services
  • An optional first-year Mentor Program
  • Fun events and activities.
